Brainwave Entrainment Therapy

Brainwave Entrainment (BWE) is a technology that changes

the frequency of your brainwaves using pulses of sound or light.

The frequency of your brainwaves actually dictates your moods and actions

Brainwave entrainment changes the frequency of your brainwave patterns. This can quickly relieve stress and tension, replenish your energy levels, increase your creativity, and generate powerful states of wholeness and well-being. You will feel calmer during everyday life and be able to handle stressful situations more easily.

Some benefits you may experience include improvement in:

  • Stress relief & relaxation
  • Mood and outlook
  • Memory & concentration
  • ADD/ADHD
  • Blood pressure
  • Pain relief
  • Headaches
  • Heart disease
  • Sleep disorders
  • Energy and vitality
  • Motivation & inspiration
  • Problem-solving

One of the most valuable benefits of regular BWE is that we are able to experience and recognize the various states of consciousness. With practice we can learn how to re-create these states.

Everyday examples of Entrainment

• When pendulum clocks are placed in close proximity, the swinging of the pendulums will eventually synchronize.

• A classic medical example of entrainment is when separate cardiac muscle cells are brought close together and they begin pulsing in synchrony.

• Within our own bodies, heart rate, respiration, and brain waves entrain to one another. Slowing down your breathing will slow down your heartbeat and brain waves, and slowing down your brain waves will correspondingly slow down heart rate and respiration.

• A large audience of people who are clapping after a performance - will all be clapping in unison and together if the clapping goes on long enough.

• Women living in close proximity to each other - for example in a college dorm - will eventually all start to menstruate at the same time.

• Two electric clothes dryers, standing next to each other, will start to spin at different rates when first turned on, but after a while they will 'synchronize' and spin at the same rate.

• Two or three people walking together will very quickly all start to 'walk in step' .

• If you have two tuning forks - both of the same note - and you strike one so that it is 'singing' and then bring it near the other one - the second one will also start to 'sing !'

How BWE works

Brainwave entrainment uses pulses of lights or sounds or a combination of both to create a rhythmic pulsing of "beats". With each pulsed tone, the brain produces an electrical response.

The brain is a mass of neurons, each taking part in storing, retrieving and transmitting electro-chemical impulses - information, colors, images, sounds, smells and tastes.

With BWE, different areas of the brain are stimulated, allowing for the awakening and subsequent release of various stored material. In a sense quietening the mind for clearer thought and process.

When the brain is provided with a stimulus, through the ears, eyes or other senses, it emits an electrical charge in response. This is called a Cortical Evoked Response.

These electrical responses travel throughout the brain to become what we see and hear. When the brain is given a consistent, repeating stimulus, such as drum beats or flashes of light, the brain responds by synchronizing, or entraining, its electric cycles to the external rhythm.

This is commonly called the Frequency Following Response (or FFR), and it can be used to effectively alter the brainwave pattern.

Deep relaxation is another major benefit resulting from the brains cortical frequency following response. By selecting the desired rate, the brain, via the frequency following response, will tend to mimic the rate it is exposed to and thus enter that brainwave state. This helps to explain why this technology can produce benefits commonly found with meditation.

What to Expect

• You will wear lightweight goggles that will produce gentle pulsing lights
          over your closed eyes.

• You will also wear headphones and listen to a variety of soothing sounds.

• Your thoughts will disappear into the light and sound show.
